SCALING AND DEEP CLEANING
Healthy teeth depend on healthy gums. Gum disease is an infection of the tissues that surround and support your teeth. It is a major cause of tooth loss in adults. Usually gum disease is painless; you may not know if you have it. It starts by the formation of dental plaque; a soft deposit that forms on the surface of teeth. Plaque contains many types of bacteria and can be easily removed while brushing. Once the plaque hardens, it turns into calculus (tartar). This sticks firmly to teeth and can only be removed by a dentist using special instruments. If you have signs of bleeding gums, redness or swelling, tenderness, bad breath or bad taste in the mouth, consult us for gum treatment. Sometimes advanced gum diseases may occur requiring treatments like flaps, bone grafts or gum re-contouring. For persistent bleeding gums, surgical treatment may be required. Do not delay in getting your gums checked as gum diseases can spread quickly. If un-treated it can result in bone loss and ultimately loss of the tooth. The best way to prevent all gum diseases is to practice good oral hygiene and visit your dentist every 6 months.
